Putin: Russia prepares no more foreign company nationalization
ST. PETERSBURG, Jul 31 (PRIME) -- The Russian government is not working on new decisions to transfer control over foreign companies to the Federal State Property Management Agency from their foreign owners, President Vladimir Putin said on July 29 in a news conference.
On July 17, Putin signed an order transferring stakes in Danone Russia and beer brewery Baltika into temporary management of the Federal State Property Management Agency.
“No, we are not preparing anything like that right now,” Putin said.
He also said that a transfer of foreign banking accounts under Russian management was connected to a specific case of a company threatening their own employees with firing if they support a certain public stance.
“This was connected to the fact that the management of these companies tried to exert pressure on the Russian citizens who work there by threatening them with possible sacking in case they support a certain public stance,” he said.
